Loreto Day School, Dharmtala was established in 1879 under the management of the Loreto Sisters of the Institute of the Blesses Virgin Mary Ward.
Today, Loreto Dharamtala educates children from all walks of life .It gives shelter, food and clothing to 62 street children who live on the premises. Inspite of limited space and no playground, it can boast of numerous past pupils who played their roles in the development of society as teachers, doctors, lawyers, journalists and some have even joined the Loreto Sisters.
